To earn your Mental Health Peer Specialist (MHPS) or Recovery Support Peer Specialist (RSPS) certification, you’ll need to receive supervision from a certified Peer Specialist Supervisor (PSS) while completing your 250 work experience hours.
A PSS must have completed the 2-Day PSS Training and received their certification through TCBAP in order to supervise your hours.
Where Can I Find a Peer Specialist Supervisor? #
1. Check With Your Organization #
It might not always be obvious, but many organizations — especially larger ones — have a staff member who holds a PSS certification. Check with your manager or HR department and ask if there’s an on-staff PSS who could supervise you. This is often the simplest option if it’s available.
2. Get Supervision Through Peer Academy #
If your organization doesn’t have a PSS on staff, Peer Academy offers qualified peer specialist supervision to help you complete your 250 required hours and earn your certification. We offer several options depending on your needs and schedule:
Group Supervision Weekly virtual group sessions that continue until you complete your 250 hours, plus a Letter of Completion for certification. This is the most cost-effective way to get the qualified supervision you need.
1-on-1 Supervision Weekly individual virtual sessions until you complete your 250 hours, with the option to also attend group sessions at no additional charge.
PACE Program (All-Inclusive) Our Peer Academy Career Enhancement (PACE) program bundles supervision with professional education, CEUs, mentorship, and networking, ideal for peers who want the full support experience.
Compliance Supervision Already certified? We offer monthly group supervision to help you stay in compliance with your ongoing certification requirements.
Scholarships are available for those who qualify, so don’t let cost be a barrier.
