Enhanced MHPS Training program

Step 1 of 5 - Experience with mental health challenges

Enhanced MHPS is a Peer Academy program that includes all the training required to become a Mental Health Peer Specialist in Texas, and additional supports to help you be successful. It also includes a $3,500 stipend for you. It is designed to help you as you go through our training program. This form is the first part of your application process. If you're invited to participate, you'll have some additional forms to complete.

To enroll in this training you must have personal lived mental health experience and be willing to appropriately share the challenges you have faced with recovery.

Terms and Conditions

Please read the terms and conditions below. Please understand that if you are unable to abide by the terms below, you could be removed from the class, lose your stipend, and may be required to pay back any portion of the stipend that you have already received.

1. I am interested in pursuing a career as a Peer Specialist
2. I have personal lived experience with mental health challenges and am willing to appropriately share
3. I will be present and engaged for the duration of both the Core (6 hour) and Supplemental (40 hour) training classes
4. I will have my camera on at all times if I attend virtually
5. I will be respectful of the instructor and other students

Since this program includes a stipend, we are required to verify each applicant's identity. There will be an additional identification verification before a stipend can begin.

Final step: Short video submission

Below we're going to ask you to record a short video (at least 1 minute, but less than 2 minutes long). We ask that you provide a little background on why you are interested in becoming a mental health peer specialist and share with us your own personal journey with mental health recovery.

To record your video follow these steps:
1. Click "Request Permission" below to start your video submission.
2. Click the record button in the middle to begin recording
3. Fill out your "name", "email", and check the box on the Privacy policy section below the video application
4. Click the "NEXT" button to upload your video

Your video is only being used for application purposes, we will not share your video with anyone outside of the training team

Unfortunately, you are not eligible for our Enhanced MHPS program and will not be able to complete this application. In order to be eligible you must:
1. Have personal lived experience with mental health challenges
2. Be willing to appropriately share your experiences
3. Agree to the terms and conditions of our program.
